Summer Missions
Where will you serve this Summer?
What does it mean to be a Summer Staffer?
You will find some of your best friends working at camp. Some have even found their spouse while working at camp! Days can be long and hard but rewarding. Without summer staff camp wouldn’t be able to run. Summer staff allow people who come to camp the opportunity to meet Jesus or to deepen their relationship with Him. We like to tell our staff that this is not a job it is a paid mission trip.
FAQ
Still have questions about the Summer Missions Team? Here are some of the most common questions and answers about being an SMT.
What is the age/grade requirements?
17 and up is the preferred age for applicants. We do allow 15 and 16-year-olds to apply but due to the nature of the work, prefer those who are 17 and older.
What does an SMT do?
SMT’s serve and clean up in the dining hall, work with churches during rec games, facilitate activities, lifeguard, and housekeeping. SMT’s are the first and last point of contact for most campers. We want our campers to have a great time and the SMT’s are what make it happen!
While no two days at camp are the same, an activity day schedule might look like this for an SMT:
7:00 AM- Breakfast & Devotion
7:30 AM- Ready to serve the group Breakfast
8:00 AM- 9:30 AM- Serve Breakfast and Clean up
9:30 AM-11:00 AM- Break time or Special Projects
11:00 AM- Staff Lunch
11:30 AM- Ready to Serve Group Lunch
12:00-1:30 PM- Serve Lunch and Clean Up
2:00-5:30 PM- Break Time, Activities, or Special Projects
5:30-6:45 PM- Serve Dinner and clean up
6:45 PM- Staff Dinner
7:30-9:30 PM- Off Time, Snack Shack, or evening activities
What's included?
SMT’s are provided onsite housing, meals, work shirts, certifications/training, and paid for the days they work.
I am taking online classes. Can I still apply?
Yes! We work with our SMT’s to ensure they have time to complete summer coursework. School is extremely important and we want you to be successful in your studies!
How many weeks is this for?
Our summer is 10-11 weeks long, depending on the orientation and group schedules. We start orientation the weekend of Memorial Day and usually end the first full week in August.
